So often companies or individuals will utilize this page to write a history about themselves or their companies that are more akin to self- praise than an overview of the company behind the domain name. Which is okay for them but not for Ladybug Productions LLC a company solely owned by me. The reason I chose to develop and make public this website is many of my earliest memories of my childhood consist of accompanying my grandmother, Odessa who was known as Me-Ma-Me as well as my mother, Alice not only of shopping, dining, to church and family outing. However the fun did not stop there we aslo attended voter registration meeting and picketing for the rights of those who had no voice. I hail from Ohio a state that has historically shown near equal support between both parties yet no Republican has ever been elected President without winning Ohio.  That in itself is not a crime as the Republican Party has been contributed as being the party that the colonial citizens of America started and may have had had the greatest affect in the struggle for independence and the formation of the constitutional form of government we have today in the United States. The party formed the basis for the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence as well as the Constitution. However, much like a line made popular from a song by the talented Grammy award winning singer –songwriter and actress Ms. Janet Jackson, “What have you done for me lately.” Well for the last eight years they have plummeted this country to the depths of hell and many believe that it will take nothing less than a miracle to bring about a CHANGE!

Change does not and cannot happen without a collective and conscientious effort from all involved. I witnessed Change as a child walking picket line after picket line with my family, leaders of the community, including my Minister James Wesley Jones Jr. who while he lived preached scripture from the Bible at a small Southern Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights Ohio, named Mt. Moriah Baptist and he was also an advocate and activist for Change.   While he lived he taught us as a congregation that Change came with sacrifice and this ideal and doctrine was also implanted daily in me through my mother. I saw her a hardworking single mother work day to day long hours and never complaining. She purchased a house when others told her she could not and despite the realtor attempting to steer her to certain neighborhoods she was not to be dissuaded. I was often if not the only African American female in many of the activities I was involved in throughout the years of my youth and young adulthood. Even today I still sometimes hear and see surprise in the voices and eyes of my contemporaries if certain topics that they take for granted is a apart of their lives but due to popular myths and misconceptions they are often taken aback that I as an African American also enjoy and partake in the same interest. This holds true especially when discussing travel destinations or hobbies.  Yes I not only can name all of the continents I have traveled to all but one and I also ski … smile!

I believe in Change and in Denver Colorado a city I once called home, I witnessed events that not only brought tears to my eyes, inspired me to stand taller, speak louder about injustice, to think more about my own contributions and duties to others. I gained insight and clarity that while the times we are living in are perilous and uncertain it will take all of us to work together to effectively bring about not just a Change for some but for all. Because just like the title from a popular Bob Dylan song, ‘The Times They Are A –Changin'. While it has been reported that this song captured the social and political and spiritual upheaval that was characterized by the 1960’s for me never has the words from this song been more prophetic. It is nothing if not a call to arms that has nothing to do with weapons of destruction but the power of the VOTE.

For this Presidential election, November 4, 2008 I decided to not just vote and not just to give money to a party or a person but, to maybe accomplish a small deed by encouraging others to vote. The thought process behind this site is as follows if you know one person who has moved in the last four years, or one person that is not a registered voter or one person who has said to you what difference will my one vote make urge them to log on to this site. Hit the link listed on each page of this website for ROCK THE VOTE and REGISTER TO VOTE and I have managed to live up to a small part of my purpose and you yours and that person theirs.
